Ultimate Abdominals

New research from the mayo clinic suggests that the side plank exercise is a recommended exercise for building your abs without stressing your spine.  “Compared with other abdominal exercises, the side plank helps you maintain posture and alignment,” says Jim Youdas, the study’s coauthor, “which leads to fewer injuries while still increasing abdominal strength.”

Here’s how it’s done:  Lie on your right side and prop your upper body on your right forearm.  Raise your hips until your body forms a straight line from ankles to shoulders. Brace your abs for 30 seconds and switch sides.  Work up to doing 3 sets on each side for 30 seconds.

If you are wondering about other specific abdominal exercises you have been given by our clinic… continue with your current recommendations and try adding this in.  Remember, a strong core is a key component of maintaining a strong, flexible and healthy spine!

Please pass our website on to others and share this blog.  I know that many of our clients love receiving them every week and we love spreading the latest in wellness.  Tell others about the care you receive in our office and help others stay healthy.

Have fun, get strong, stay healthy.

I have a question for you…

Good morning everyone…I would like to start your day with a very important question.

How can our Health Care system be spending more money, have more medical doctors, more nurses, more hospital beds, and more available medications every year and continue to have more sick people per capita?  In our current system, are we producing healthier individuals or are we are producing individuals with less symptoms?  Although medical intervention is necessary at times… when we use drugs or surgery to treat a staph infection, diabetes, heart disease or cancer… are we helping that person’s body to become stronger and function better or are we just treating the disease?

Health is not merely the absence of sickness, symptoms or disease it is optimizing function of every cell in your body.  Drugs will make us feel better during sickness, but they will never make us naturally function better and become well.

FOCUS on the five habits of FUNCTION… HEALING, NOURISHMENT, MOVEMENT, HARMONY, CLARITY.

I have been teaching them for years. They are proven around the world.  They WILL improve your body’s function and keep you well for life!

So…is good posture really a big deal?

People always ask us…”Is having good posture really a big deal?”

Well… let me explain.  Your posture is a window to your health.  Your spine encases and supports your nervous system.  Any abnormal distortions of the spine, such as misalignments or changes in the proper spinal curves, indicate a potentially serious problem.  Your nervous system controls and coordinates every organ and function in your body. Poor posture places abnormal stress on your nervous system. This results not only in pain and muscle spasm, but can also lead to arthritis and other systemic diseases.  Interference and damage to the Central Nervous System will always result in abnormal function of the body, reduced capactiy for healing and less than optimal health.

So the next time someone asks you, “is good posture a big deal?”  You can answer…”No it’s not a big deal… IT”S A HUGE DEAL!”

I applaud all of you for having had a proper assessment of your spine and POSTURE.  However, if it’s been awhile, I care enough to remind you to get it checked.

We are living in exponential times!

“Future shock [is] the shattering stress and disorientation that we induce in individuals by subjecting them to too much change in too short a time.”  Alvin Toffler

Just saw this eye opening video on the reality of how fast paced our planet is becoming… you have to check this out!  It explains one of the greatest issues that impacts your health on a daily basis… STRESS!

After watching this video, answer these two VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS:

How important is it to create balance and harmony for yourself and your family in this increasingly fast paced world?

What will happen to you, your relationships, and your health if you don’t create balance and harmony in your life?
